The Project

Surrounded by open farm land in the heart of Sussex, this farmhouse was sympathetically transformed from derelict farm workers cottages into this five bedroom home retaining all the character of its 15th century beginnings with the benefit of modern comforts.

The building was completely stripped back to its timber-frame before work began on its transformation.

The newly renovated 15th century exterior was completed with oak mullioned windows and lime rendered panels between the traditionally repaired original oak frame.

A south facing sun room with traditional oak framing and a cedar shake roof takes advantage of the newly landscaped gardens, large pond and far-reaching views of the Sussex Countryside.

Inside the farmhouse the original beams were shot blasted and many of the walls were re-created with oak framed panels, insulated and plastered with a church finish.

Both downstairs and upstairs most of the rooms were completed with under floor heating taken from a newly installed Ground Source Heat Pump.

The chimney stack was dismantled and rebuilt to exactly replicate the original brickwork.
